of: (1) developing a use-pattern profile of abstract diagrams for design communication in the programming process, i.e., determine which diagram
type is used for the communication of which programmatic design issues by private-practice firms, and (2) determining the perceptions of landscape architects in regard to clarity of understanding, ease of preparation,
and frequency of use of these diagrams, also identifying any association between these perceptions.
